This squad looks good. I would drop Nketani, Hachilensa and Kolala. I would include Mweene, Chansa, Felix, Clifford, Kakonje, Kalaba, Kola, Edwin and Mweetwa (if not injured). Chris should partner Mbesuma as twin strikers then bring Clifford/Kalaba and Chamanga/Felix on the left and right wings. The young boys Kola and Mayuka can come in as substitutes.

    Starting line-up

    Goal keeper: Kennedy Mweene
Defenders: Joseph Musonda, Noah Chivuta, Hichani Himoonde, Elijah Tana

Midfielders: Andrew Sinkala, Isaac Chansa, Felix Katongo, Rainfold Kalaba

    Strikers: Christ Katongo, James Chamanga

Substitues: Kalililo Kakonje (GK), Chintu Kampamba, Billy Mwanza, Edwin Phiri, Clifford Mulenga, Fwayo Tembo, Collins Mbesuma

This squad (18 players) can stand any african opposition. There is no place for Jacob Mulenga, Kola and Mayuka. Kola and Mayuka should concentrate on U-20 and U-23. Sorry to say that Jacob Mulenga is quite inconsistent.

Billy i hear you too…even in my team, no place for Jacob Mulenga. He is inconsistent as rightly put above. One thing I have noticed is that most bloggers seem to have a common midfield!

Some words on selection of players. The back line is rather mature and much would depend on fitness and form. These are experienced guys but we’d want to see some of the younger picking up the mantle, because we are going to need them to step in and do a quality job soon. Chinyama could go in at right back, Chivuta did well left back… Is Himonde coming of age? Justine Zulu would need allot more experience for working under Renard. Nyamba Mulenga? Davies Nkausu? Dinamo put Stephen Kunda in his team?!?! Much to experiment with and much to cement.

The midfeild takes care of itself, i included Sinkala in there because i wish to see what can happen. Band Henry, i think he might be rested for now. I think Fwayo should get a chance up front next to Chris. Some chemistry needs to start happening and he might just be the man to spark it. I’m confident were going to start pinging in goals soon.

Renard has a bit of a dilemma. Up till that game against Togo, we hadn’t played well, so it was ok try this try that… Now we had a good performance and what do you do? Do you keep it very much the same and improve on it or do keep trying new things? I think Renard will try and improve it…

One thing I am sure of is Sichone will never make my team. I will not play him in midfield when he no longer plays there but plays in defense and i woulkd rather rely on what we already have inb defense.

I agree on not having Jacob as a starter.

That leaves me with Mbesuma. He can start but not finish a game. Sinkala, Chansa for me come in.

  27. Chips, RSA on Tue, 28th Oct 2008 8:30 AM

Ya I watched the matched i which mweene and a striker from the opposing team crashed, it was so terrible. He was immediately rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. While the striker had a broken nose. they were both aiming for the ball. | just pray that he recovers quickly.
