Stophira Sunzu signs for Chateauroux

International midfielder Stophira Sunzu has clinched a one year loan deal with French Ligue 2 side Berrichonne Chateauroux.

The 19 year old comfirmed the developments to Zambianfootball.net in a telephone interview on Tuesday night.

“I will be here for the whole season with an option of extending it. I ‘m happy that finally I ‘ve managed to clinch a deal in France,” said the graduate from the Class of 07 that reached the last 16 at the World Youth Cup.

Stophira, who made his international debut this year against Botswana, will link up with international teammate Jacob Mulenga at Chateauroux.

The lanky midfielder was playing for Zanaco this season where he was on-loan from division one south Afrisports.

The 19 year spent last season also on loan at his hometown club Konkola Blades. His elder brother Felix Sunzu Jr, 23, has also been capped at international level.

Stophira’s father, Felix Sr, a Congolese born is an ex-Konkola Blades goalkeeper.
