Elijah Tana sat out Thursday training match. It’s not clear as to why the 33 year old did not play.

Billy Mwanza, Chintu Kampamba, Whiteson Simwanza, Banda ‘Thierry’ Henry, Lyianga Chiwanki and Hichani Himonde all had the necessary game time ahead of the pending Togo clash.

Defence kingpin and veteran Elijah Tana did not take part in the practice match. Tana watched from the VIP stand alongside FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya and his vice Emmanuel Munaile.

Meanwhile the under-20’s imminent trip to Australia for an invitational Canberra Youth tourney is in the limbo after their departure on Tuesday was cancelled.

According to sources the Junior Chipolopolo are scheduled to leave on Saturday the day tournament will kickoff.

The Oswald Mutapa Jnr side are preparing for a crucial Rwanda 2009 African Youth Championship qualifier against Egypt.

Egypt will host Zambia on the weekend on 26-28 September in the first leg.

And finally Confederation of African Football, CAF have set September 7 as the date Zambia will host Nambia in the first leg of the Algeria 2009 African Under-17 Championship.

The qualifier was initially set for this weekend but FAZ asked CAF to postpone the match due to the state of national mourning currently in Zambia.

While the under-17 match has been sorted out, there’s still uncertainty surrounding the fixture against Togo which was scheduled for the same weekend of 5-7 September with FAZ still waiting for confirmation from the World governing body, FIFA on a possible new date.

FAZ has proposed September 13 to FIFA for the Zambia v Togo clash.

It is good that Kola is scoring goals. But let us not be deceived by the scorelines with weak oppossition,Togo is much stronger than all these teams we have played in preperation games.

In my opinion Kola can score as many goals but with the current strikers we have he is not good enough to be in the stating eleven. He should continue working hard his time will definately come but for Mayuka the lad has not scored in the last 3 frendlies games I wonder how renard will rate him considering his rating had been below that Kola at least according to Renard.

Good for the youngster this willl certainly work for his confidence. He should be focued on with getting the U20 qualified. If he goes into the Egypt game with loads of confidnce but not over confident he should be able to make the winning difference between the two sides. Just hope Renard is seeing this for what it really is, weak opposition. He should not now draw a conclusion that we finally have a free scooring stricker in our ranks. CCongrats Kola,, brace after brace, you are getting more and more deadly.

fifa is not serious. Zambia has applied for the change of date for a long time and still there is no response? Or is it the Zambians who are weak in putting up the fight? Kalusha Bwalya, where are you? As president you have gone into hiding? We have less than a week before the 6-7 th September.
