Renard predicts victory

August 27, 2008

CHIPOLOPOLO Boys coach Herve Renard has declared that his team will win the crucial 2010 Africa/World Cup qualifier against Togo in honour of the late President Levy Mwanawasa. And Renard said his technical staff would respect the decision to reschedule the match from September 6 to another date if granted by world soccer governing body FIFA.
In an interview shortly on arrival from a 10-day training camp in Germany on Monday night, Renard described the outing as fulfilling.

Renard, who arrived in the company of his wife Patricia and teenage daughter Candide, said the team would work hard to win the Togo clash in honour of President Mwanawasa.
President Mwanawasa died on August 19 at Percy Military Hospital in Paris, France where he was admitted after suffering a stroke during the African Union summit in Egypt on June 29.

“It can be a very good thing (to win against Togo). The nation will be proud of us. It’ll be good for us to win for him,” he said.

Renard said winning against Togo would also demonstrate the team’s appreciation to President Mwanawasa’s leadership.

Zambia national taking to the field against Germany side Kicmheim on Tuesday without black arm band.

“When we received the news (about the President’s death), the team was affected. There was silence but we discussed. Each match we played, we wore a black armband in his (President Mwanawasa) honour,” he said.

Zambia beat German Bundesliga One side VFL Kirchheimteck 2-0 and amateur side SV Bonlanden 3-0 as part of the training programme.

Meanwhile, Renard said much as the team had set its focus on September 6, it would have no option but to respect the decision to reschedule the match.
The Group 11 encounter between Zambia and Togo falls within the mourning period that was extended from the initial seven to 21 days.

“We worked to be ready for this date (September 6). The focus is on this date but the most important is the Republic. I’ll respect the decision if the game is postponed,” he said.

On Monday, FAZ wrote to FIFA asking the world soccer mother body to reschedule the match.

President Mwanawasa will be put to rest at Embassy Park in Lusaka on September 3.
Renard described the 10-day camp in Germany as successful.
“The camp was very nice, the organisation was also good,” he said.
Renard said the training camp was good in adequately preparing the team for the task against Togo.

The Frenchman said he missed the presence of Germany-based skipper Christopher Katongo and striker Jacob Mulenga of French side Chateauroux.
However, Renard said he has been monitoring the progress of the two players at their respective clubs as well as the South Africa-based internationals.
Renard added that his final team ahead of the Togo match would be named on Friday.
“We were happy with Rainford (Kalaba), Felix (Katongo) and Isaac (Chansa),” he said

Renard also praised the national team players for showing signs of improvement and singled out defender Hichani Himoonde and midfielder Kebby Hachipuka among the most impressive local based players.

Renard said Himoonde and Hachipuka have made steady improvements worth noting.
“I’m happy to be with the boys. It’s also important to work with local players,” he said.
Renard said the team would remain in camp until the decision on the date of the match against Togo slated for Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe is advised.

Since Reinard has been monitoring Chris and Jacob at their respective clubs, what does he say about the missing link in his possible line up- Sinkala? Free data for him, Sinkala has played three games this season, first one as a 46th minute substitute(cup game) and the other two 90 minutes were league game.

Has he also monitored Sinkala, what is his honest opinion.

I cant wait for his list on friday

I on the other hand would be very surprised if Tana did make the line up. There must be someone who is arogantly stuborn either at FAZ or maybe Renard himself, its getting hard to tell anymore. It is pretty obvious that selection matters go beyound the technical bench but the technical bench should also realise that failure will stop at them and not the people influecing them.
Enock nice line up but for starters I would employ the more traditional 4-4-2 and not 4-3-3. or maybe let me put it like this 4-3-1-2. The 1 is for Chris to sit just behind the strickers. Tthis position worked like a dream for him in his last season at Cosmos. Tana would not make my line up. The rumour that Sinkala is on the coaches cards net Friday is some light, hopefully it is true. Tthis is a sticky position for chipolopolo.

i have now seen for a fact that renard is just a pawn people, shamelessly the man cud lie to the entire nation that the bots were black arm bands when playing in germany, these chaps really think we are stupid, did we not all see the fotos provided here by this wonderful site? i think they underestimate the value of fans, well they have one chance to begin correctiing there mistakes, i think they do not realise that should we lose we kiss goodbye to international football at senior level till 2011
