Stophira Sunzu set to sign for Chateauroux?

International and on loan Zanaco midfieder Stophira Sunzu is believed to be in France and poised to sign for Ligue 2 side Berrichonne Chateaurox.

Sunzu was the only local player missing on arrival from Germany on Monday night at Lusaka International airport.

In July, the towering holding midfielder attended trials at the Ligue 2 outfit but returned home.

Chateauroux is currently placed 11th on log after recording two wins and losing by the number of games. Jacob Mulenga is currently Chateauroux vice captain and has been leading the side in their last three league matches in the absence of the captain who is still injured.

After a superb performance in midfield at the 2007 World Youth Cup, the 19 year old was invited for trials at English side Reading fc. The Championship side was keen on securing him on longer deal but due to a work permit hitch, things did not materialize.

The Chililabombwe born made his international debut against Botswana this year in the Chan qualifiers and went on to start Zambia’s crucial 2010 African/ World Cup qualifiers against Swaziland.

Meanwhile, Zambia national soccer team arrived back safely from Germany and touched down Lusaka international airport at around 20:00 hours local time.

I like his stature and style of play. He reminds of Man utd’s micheal Carrick. He plays simple and one touch futbol. But I think he has been rushed into the senior team.

Stophira needs to develop and looking back from the Uruguay v Zambia at the World Cup, he gives me hope that he will be make it and really a potential anchorman.

All the best Sunzu ! Hope you sign.

A player for the near future. Guys like Micheal Essien & D.Drogba started their European careers in the French Second division. Good luck i hope you sign young man.

    Voila Mr Sunzu.
Let me take this opportunity to say the following.
In recent years the number of players playing i europe seems to be increasing. This is good. But the thing is faz should make use of these guy even if they are playing in second division teams in europe. In addition the “net should be thrown wider” in order to get the best available players Zambia has both locally and internationally. Unfortunately, this is not the case in Zambia. Faz always says there no personal to order positions in the team and yet they use the same players, if not 1 or 2 additions and yet we have an “army” of forgotten players in europe. These are the things we soccer fans are concerned about. But faz its is deaf. In natendwa mwe.

Billy, SA you are right. We have heard and we are told that the dorr is open. It looks like the FAZ has the penchant for South African based players. What of those in Sweden and Finland. Cast the net wider and what of those players in Europe and USA with mixed parentage, what is the FAz doing about it? GIGO. The use of the same players does nor bring the desired results, now wonder Zambia struglles in the qualifiers. Renard and FAz are you listening?

This is good for the lad, hope his signature fits the dotted line. This is a good league to get European exposure from and fight to play top flight in this league and you can almost vritually play anywhere. Nice to see Zambian players in Europe these days making a bit more efort in recommending their country men. Hope this materialises and we have a holding midfileder being horned into the likes of Essien. FAZ and Renard, should the boy sign, give him at least 2/3 of the season to acclamatize before you start your new habit of dragging raw players into the senior team. Sunzu, DO US PROUD!!!!!!!

Good luck Nsunzu. I hope you will not overstay in the Second division like Jacob Mulenga. You should be at that club at most for one and half season and move on to a bigger club. Jacob Mulenga has failed there.

  • Chips, RSA wrote on 26 August, 2008, 14:58

But what is happening to Mayuka and Kola’s moves abroad? Please Zam footies update us.

  • Big Steve from SA wrote on 26 August, 2008, 16:06

I think to say Jacob has failed will be a bit unfair considering that this club, regardless of it being in second division is a professional club in one of the best leagues in the world. The larger number of our players that go abroad dont last as long even in second division teams and certainly do not make captain or vice. Jacob has beeen there for long because he is proffessional and disciplined so lets not at all underate his achievement in France. It is France after all not Finland were Hachilense could not even go beyound a couple of months. Chips, totally disagree with you there that Jacob has failed when amoung our current crop his the only one with stability at a proffesional club and endurance in one club.

Andrew will not be considered for the Togo game. what a shame, Renard says he will only recall him in future. What if Zed loses against Togo? Because I thought this game was a do or die…..situation!!
