Kirchheim 0-2 Zambia (Rodger Kola 78”, 83”)
Second half substitute Rodger Kola scored two goals in a space of five minutes to give Zambia a 2-0 win over Germany’s third division Kirchheim.
The 19 year old’s 78th header and low drive shot in the 83rd minute sealed the win for Chipolopolo Boys.
Chipolopolo Boys trainer Herve Renard gave international debut to Roan Unitted shot stopper Bob Banda while Lusaka Dynamos rookie defender Hichani Himonde won the right to partner Elijah Tana at the heart of the defence.
Francis Kasonde and Noah Chivuta were preferred as right and left full backs respectively.
With the back four complete, Renard’s first choice pairing of Chintu Kampamba and Billy Mwanza had to settle for a on the bench.

Red hot Emmanuel Mayuka and Francis Kombe started upfront while Banda’Thierry’ Henry, Felix Katongo, Rainford Kalaba and Green Eagles’ Kebby Hachipuka were deployed in midfield.
Despite Zambia enjoying a large part of possession, the first half ended goalless.
In the second half, the technical bench made six changes and introduced the likes of Stophira Sunzu, Billy Mwanza, Clive Hachilensa, Whiteson Simwanza and Kola.
The lads showed a bit of technical skill but their passing was quite and build up was slow allowing Kirchheim to close them quickly.

But the turning point came in the 78th minute when the Zanaco hitman, Kola scored for Zambia, giving the Copperbullets a deservely lead.
With scouts from FC Cologne watching from the stands, the 19 year old scored his second for the night five minutes later to give Herve Renard’s charges a morale victory ahead of the September 6 mouthwatering clash against the Hawks of Togo.
This is Kola’s fifth international goal this year and his third brace of the season so far. He has taken his tally for season to 12.
Zambia’s friendly match against another Germany side SV Bonlanden has been cancelled as a sign of respect for the late President.
Zambia starting line up:
Bob Banda, Francis Kasonde, Elijah Tana, Hichani Himonde, Noah Chivuta; Henry Banda, Felix Katongo, Kebby Hachipuka, Rainford Kalaba,; Emmanuel Mayuka, Francis Kombe.

It is a sad time for the people of Zambia as we mourn the departure of our former president. At least the Chipolopolo boys did not add to our woes. Well done boys. I have one bone of contention that I have been mulling over and I would like the opinion of the jury. The team that started and won this friendly game resembles about 40% of the players that I think are going to start against Togo. The players that I think will end up starting are either not in camp or just got to camp. Contrast this to the England camp that is playing a friendly game, everyone reported for camp with the exception of Woodgate who is injured. Guys, this game coming up against Togo is of epic proportions and all the stops should have been puilled out to make the most of the opportunity that the Germans have given us to camp there. Every minute of ten days should have been optimally used because come 6th September Mother Zambia will hold it’s breath for 90 minutes. How do you guys rate our preparations, will the late arrivals affect us, will the absentees affect us?
Yours in Football,
Concerned But Optomistic
I can sympathise with your concern but the comparison you are giving does not hold. All the English players, except Beckham, play in the premiership which makes organsing the team easier. You also need to bear in mind the club commitments that some players have. Someone correct me if I am wrong, FIFA regulations require players to report for camp three days before a game on a FIFA recognised date. So, we should actually be happy that we were able to get some players way ahead of this out of the goodwill of the respective clubs. Having said that, I do recognise that Wednesday is a FIFA recognised date fro friendlies and there is no reason why we shouldn’t have the full squad. Only sad thing now is the cancellation due to our loss. Speaking of which, does this mean the whole trip has been cancelled or the team will still continue training but just won’t play competitive games?
Well done kola. its the goals we require at this late hour. Do the same as a substitute on the 6th.
i know that we morning our president, but life goes on,let the boyz play there next game
I agree with what atlanta, ga said. The boys are in Germany in order to prepare for Togo. Another game (no matter the level of competition) is much needed. While the president’s death is unfortunate life must go on.
good job rodgers, i hope this gives u more confidence so hopefully u can do it again againest togo.go chipolopolo!
On this sad day you have brought a glimmer of hope, thanks Chipolopolo.
DaMwiinger I somewhat disagree with you, maybe England is an exception but South africa managed to assemble a full strength squad yesterday aganist Australia, so did Togo in France. Magic is right, how come we could not do this on a fifa sanctioned day. Why is it that when it comes to administrative issues with FAZ there are always hiccups. South Africa had all its Europe players (those called to camp) from all over the place available and played very well I should say (score 2-2) yet here we are we cant even get a player whose club is on recess into camp (Chamanga).
Kola this is really good for your C.V and this is a good stepping stone into the big leagues, scoring goals in Germany.
Our belovved president is gone and we still have eyes filled with tears, we should continue with this camp and the friendlies in his honor. Affter GGabon we rose like a phoenix and shocked the world, emerging runnersup to Nigeria at the Africa cup. Had we cancelled our participation we would not have had the chance to honor the fallen heroes like we did. Lets not cancel and now with more hheart and vigour do it for president, our father, our hero.
Good that Kola scored I hope he will deliver when if he gets chance to play as a sub against Togo. Im also happy that Tana is offering the leadership the team needs, it is impossible to ignore Tana I understand why Renard has faith in him despite his negative comments on the player`s fitness level last mounth.
Can someone tell me about this Kirchheim club we beat are they a serious team which category of german football do they turn out for?
Calls for our National Team to play their friendly game when the nation is morning can not be acceptable not even in USA, Antlanta & Zambian Fan please not this time.
welldone chipolopolo boys, we just hope that the same scoring spirit will be shown when we face Togo.
Sorry pipo about the questn on which division kirchheim club turns out for as it is explicitly stated in the article above . I just need general info about the club.
Playing Noah as a fullback. I see this coach consistently plays him in this position. Jjust wondering how come and since when has Noah been a fulll back. Guess he showed full back qualities in training.
As for the debate about whether our preparations should go on or not, I agree with the members of the forum that think we should continue:
1)I stand to be corrected but I believe people in Zambia are still working. These are professional footballers, let them work.
2)If we prepare well we can increase our chances of giving our late president a fitting send off by trouncing Togo.
3)The game against Togo falls outside the 7 days of national mourning so I presume it will still go on and the last thing we want to do is add to the mourning by being inadequately prepared.
4)I think a minutes silence and black armbands will send a strong message that the boys stand in solidarity with the nation in this dark our.
5)They say that great men are born in the cradle of adversity. This is a bitter pill to swallow but we should remain objective and pragmatic without being disrespectful.
I would like to conclude that in the light of the aforementioned points the camp can go on as per the itinerary in good faith.
P.S. Big Steve:Thanks for substantiating my earlier point about assembling a team in camp. I agree with you. The English example had holes in it yet the two citations of South Africa and Togo constitute a robust argument.
Congrats to the boyz,Vincent you right to ask the division Kirchheim.
KIRCHHEIM PLAYS IN DIVISION FIVE(5) OF GERMANY.
Big Steve,I was also wondering why Chivuta is playing as a full back but Ive realised its not strange in our game remember in 1993-1994 Aggrey Chiyangi & Evans Sakala were turned into full backs & remember how effective Chiyangi later became in that role.EMMANUEL,our Kombe was not on target may be he still had to adapt as he was playing his 1st game in Europe & wanted to impress the scouts at the same time.ha!ha (just joking).Congrats Kola, hope we will see those goals aganist Togo
Who did the 6 subs come in for?Did Tana play 90 mins?
Well done lads
Point well taken Big Steve and Magic i.e. preparations. Without appearing to be defending FAZ, we need to take into account that the Germany trip was not planned for in advance, remember? But maybe that’s the real issue-planning. Did FAZ have anything planned before we got fortunate with the German’s offer?
I also take the view that we should continue with the friendlies, with minnows as the case may be, even though we are mourning. We could have done with better opponents. But I suppose there are other benefits in the lads training from there-could be an avenue for some players to get into Europe.
I agree entirely with Magic’s pragmatic approach to the whole mourning issue. There is no need for us to be flagging an emotional card when in all truth, it would only be to our disadvantage. So, if someone at FAZ ever reads this, please continue with the preparations with minute’s silence and black bands.
Well done Kola. I am sure you will soon rise to the big occassions as well pretty soon.
Continue writing bazambia am reading.Dinamo are you eating kampompo?
at this moment time its had to celabrate knowing every well we have lost the head of the nation but live should gone on it will be hard to get a replacement. please try collins mbesuma in the next game so we can see how he can perform i know he has the magic feet, and remain kennedy mween to keep his goal posts line the team has a captain or if he wants to play upfront he should ask mbesuma , who started as keeper then a defender and lastly a diedly stricker, keep it up boys and the coach we are behind you no matter who you play against even division eight we will support you all the way , Paul Mpabalwani. luansya, Zambia.
GO ZAMBIA GO.
My Question is do these two goals Kola has scored contribute to his tally on the top scorers chart. If so why dont goals scored during friendly matches with local clubs count towards one’s tally on the scorers table. Please people help me out also, are caps given for these friendlies with clubs, i have noticed in other countries they only award caps for Games played againist National Teams. Iam worried about Renard playing players out of position, come the Togo Game those players will struggle and we will be busy condemning them.
Am happy with the results despite the mourning of our president.Looking at Renard.I think he shud make use of our players based there. And of my worrying factor is on this side the team played with. This shud not make us very happy by the results. After all there is much more to do in making the formidable team.Already from the look of things,Tana the captain of that match does not seem with gud combination with chintu and billy, hence as it stands we don’t know who shall be the formidable defence during togo match
Majic!! i beg to disagree with you on the 40% issue, if you look at the team line up only Chris and Jacob did not play if you compare with the Swazi game.
and if you look at the reasons why those two did not come they are very genuine, Chris played in a bundersliga game created a goal and played for 90 min. jacob skippered his side in ligue 1 game, i feel that experience will be Vital as our boys are getting interenational recognition…….Go Chipolopolo
Mwape C, the players missing are alot more than you have assumed. Mweene, Musonda Joseph, Isaac, Chamanga, plus the two you have mentioned are but some of the players missing. Adding to that, Renard seems to have been biased towards a central defensive partnership of Chintu and Billy. I think he should have been using these games to consolidate partnerships instead of continuing to experiment with players seeing that we have just a few days before the game. Anyway we dont know who came in for who after the 6 substitutions.
To me Kola has never impressed he nids 2 try defence maybe. Striker instincts are with kombe & mayuka the body is with kola
Mabwana your wait will be long, strikers are born not med, @ real madrid could not believe that kola did not mek the grade inspite his body. Kilambe playing shirt 7 was good for dinamo kilambe @ shirt 2 cud have played in europe luk @ lauren @ arsena he swaped cameroon 7 for arsena 2. Remember strikers are born
Kola is a chancer, no service no work rate, he isnt a striker, just lucky periodically to be in the right place at the right time. Did u see the whooping miss when he and Jacob failed to find the net? nonsense, he reminds me of paul chela
Maybe even Nelson Banda, a striker must be able to dribble and have foresight, i have never seen him dribble or even make a clever pass, but then again its merely my opinion, they say all goals are great, if he plays on the 6th and scores, il praise him for scoring, if not, well expect me to say “i told you kola li planga”
Mwape C I really cant work out the reasoning behind your comment. What are you saying that if a players club is playing a game and that player makes the starting line up this is a valid reason to not report for national duty?? C’mon my man listen to yourself here. half of the players in the big teams at Afcon are regulars in Euurope and yet come to afcon for almost a month, so becuase there teams need them in your mind it is valid that they miss afcon?? I think FAZ thinks somewhat like you and that is why we cant assemble a full strength squad on a fifa sanctioned day. Sorry to say but your reasoning here gets a -30 out of a 10 grade.
Togo lost to DR Congo 2-1. I haven’t seen any comments about this score. Togo needed an Adebbayor penallty to get the one goal. I am not sure if this can be used as a minimal moral booster to our boys that even with the great Adebayor Togo are very much beatable and that we will shock them like we did bafana bafana in Capetown. Anybody had the chance to see the Togo Dr Congo game, any comments on the quality of the Togolese game??
