Most of the teams are busy trying to strength the squads and Zambian players have been linked with a number of teams while others have either signed or have been released.
Zambianfootball.net looks at what has been happening during the transfer window.
Angola
The Oil rich Angolan league is still active with Primero De Augusto on 28 points, 4 points behind the league leaders.
Zambian contigent of Harry Milanzi, Dube Phiri and Ian Bakala ply their trade at the Army sponsored side.
Milanzi is the second top scorer at Primero de Augusto.
Last week, former international midfielder Perry Mutapa(pictured above) sneaked into that country with the hope of securing a deal with Primero De Agusto.
Did the deal materialize? Well ‘The Principal’ is back in Zambia and watched his team, Lusaka Dynamos’ goalless stalemate with Green Eagles on Saturday.
Tunisia
Etoile du Sahel striker Fwayo Tembo left for Tunisia yesterday while another Tunisian based striker, Felix Sunzu Jr of AS Marsa will be leaving in the next few days.
Sunzu Jr unused subs for both Zambia’s encounters against Swaziland while Fwayo trained with the Herve Renard’s boys before the home tie against the Sihlangu.
South Africa
Former Under-23 skipper and BidVest Wits Noah Chivuta and countryman Davies Nkausu have started their preseason with their new club, Premier Soccer League Champions Supersport United.
Nkausu was sighed from Mvela golden league side Pretoria University.
And Nkausu’s former teammate at ‘Amatuks’ Clifford Mulenga is set to start his pre-season at BidVest Wits this week.
Under-20 wing sensation Banda ‘Thierry’ Henry is expected to sign and join Mulenga at Wits while Yorum Mwila and left full back Luka Tembo will be shipped on loan probably to Thanda Royal Zulu, another PSL side.
The trio are currently with the Under-20 squad preparing for the return leg against Mauritius.
Still in the Rainbow nation, Chipolopolo centre back Chintu Kampamba is negotiating for a new deal with Free State Stars.
Chintu’s team mate at last PSL season’s surprise package Kennedy Mweene tied up on a longer term.
Former Lusaka and Power Dynamos duo of Billy Mwanza and Kalililo Kakonje are expected to leave this week to their bases, Golden Arrows and Amazulu respectively.
Joseph Musonda will also leave this week. The Golden Arrows’ left back was in the form of his life at the Durban based club last season.
And finally Songwe Chalwe has been released by Moroka Swallows. The former Red Arrows striker was in the country recently.
France
International midfielder Stophira Sunzu is busy organizing a VISA as he looks set to have his second European trials in less than 12 months.
The 18 year old is scheduled to leave on Sunday for France.
Jacob Mulenga is still searching for Ligue 1 club though former club Chateaurox are ready to welcome him back. Mulenga was on a season long at demoted side Racing Strasbourg.
Felix Katongo will also link up with his Stade Rennais team mates this week for pre-season.
Cyprus
Former Under 20 star Joseph Zimba and Under-23 striker Christopher Musonda are scheduled to leave trials this week to Cyprus.
Zimba was part of the class of 07 that reached the last 16 at the FIFA World Youth Cup while Musonda featured for Zambia at the 2007 All Africa games in Algeria where Zambia came fourth.
Isreal
Zambia Under-20 captain Justine Zulu was expected join his teammates at Hapoel beer Sheva by Friday this week but due to Under-20 commitments ‘The Wardrope’ will link up with team in Holland for pre-season training.
Bitwell Phiri who scored six goals for Hapoel last season has seen his loan spell not extended.
