Following a disciplinary hearing held on the 11th of June 2008, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) speaking through vice spokesperson Marcha Chilemena fined several clubs and individuals from lower league divisions a sum total in excess of 13 million kwacha for various misconduct on and of the pitch most notable of which involved division one south high flyers Nakambala Leopards.
“As the Football Association of Zambia, we take very strong exception to unruly behaviour as this is not the spirit of the Zambian game and we (FAZ) will take strenuous action against any individual, player and official alike referees inclusive, or club who go against the rules of the game,” He said,
“And to that effect the Registrar Mr Joel Kabika and the committee will take very strong action against any such perpetrators who attempt to bring the game into disrepute. Let us remember that its ‘eyes on the ball’.” he added.
The Kings’ men return
Zambia under-20 side take on Mauritius this Sunday in a 2009 African Youth Championship Qualifier at Lusaka’s Woodlands Stadium and CAF has appointed officials from Swaziland to officiate the game.
This comes less than a week after Zambia narrowly beat Swaziland by a goal to nil via a Chris Katongo spot kick. “The under-20 squad is fully fit and very impressive, they are so good coach Oswald Mutapa has a headache trimming the squad,” an inside source said, “We were supposed to drop six players today but its a difficult decision as they are all very good.”
Their opponents jet in tomorrow evening aboard a South African Airlines flight.
